The women’s football team of Politehnica Timisoara received the “Excellence in Sport” award at the Excellence Awards Gala 2022 at UPT.

In the recently concluded fall season, all of the club’s teams finished in 1st place with straight wins!

The senior team finished the regular season of League I in the top position, with maximum points in the 11 games played and a 75-0 record! In fact, it is the only team in Romanian football without a goal conceded this season, in the first three women’s and first three men’s echelons! At the beginning of December, the team played a friendly match in Serbia against Red Star Belgrade.

The club’s second team ended the year as the leader of League III’s first series with straight wins. The U17 and U15 girls’ teams are in first place in the national championships for these age groups, both with straight wins.

Many Politehnica players are constantly called up to all Romanian national teams, including the senior national team. Among them, Teodora Meluță, one of the best football players in the country.

Politehnica’s technical director is general manager Mirel Albon, former coach of the women’s national team and the most successful coach in Romanian women’s football, having won several national titles with Olimpia Cluj.

The Politehnica Timișoara women’s football team will emerge under this name in the summer of 2021, through a partnership with Fortuna Becicherecu Mic. Since the summer of this year, the women’s football team has become a section within SSU Politehnica Timișoara, a club that includes the senior team and the children and juniors centre.
