Politehnica Timisoara played their first friendly match of the summer today at “Science”. The opponent was Obilici Sânmartinu Sârbesc, a newly promoted team in League 5, where a number of former players of the club play. The game, divided into three halves, ended with a score of 16-0 for our team. But the result mattered less, as the staff’s main objective was to pursue as many young players as possible.
The first two halves were longer and in total the game lasted about 90 minutes. The guests were presented with names such as Titi Varga and Tiberiu Popoviciu, players who also contributed to Politehnica’s revival almost a decade ago.
The first half ended 4-0 after goals scored by Daniel Benzar (min. 17), Nicolae Sofran (19), Daniel Olariu (26) and Cosmin Bîrnoi (29). Răzvan Milea and Silviu Pană, the first players transferred in this period, played for Politehnica for the first time.
In the second half the score took on proportions after Alex Gașpar (min. 4, 6), Danciu (7), Kuhn (9, 14), Bakoș (25) and Rogosic (27, 29). The latter had another goal disallowed and perhaps the most beautiful executions were those of Gașpar and Bakoș.
Finally, in the third part, the team used was mostly made up of players from the Politehnica Academy. Striker Raul Țurcaș (min. 2, 7, 11, 16) scored all the goals of the last part.
Alin Ignea, Adrian Zaluschi and Stefan Vukoje were all absent for medical reasons and trained separately today.

“It was a training session to see a little bit of the kids in the academy as well, to see all the players who have been training with the team these days. A useful test, because I got an idea of it in a big way and it was also important for the young players, for the players in our academy, to feel a bit of the atmosphere of the big team. And from Monday we start a new week with two friendly matches”, said Bogdan Andone, Politehnica’s head coach.
Asked about the new players, Silviu Pană and Răzvan Milea, who recently signed with our team, and Ionuț Teodorescu (Unirea Bascov, b. 2001), who played in the second half in defence, Andone answered: “They are players I know, who I saw in last season’s matches. I have worked with Silviu Pană and they are players who will probably bring us more quality, more team value, players who will help Poli and the team to get where we all want to be”.
“I’ve been in charge of the team for almost a year now. I started from scratch, I didn’t know anyone, I slowly put the guys in the field. Today a lot of them were away on holiday. I tried to improvise. All in all it was a good move. We achieved our goal, promotion to League 5. And here we want to stay as long as we can and slowly fight for League 4. I even spoke to Titi Varga, he said he wanted to stay, he said that he would put his boots on the ground. From us he wants to retire, and him, and “Bero” (n. Tiberiu Popoviciu) and Flavius Muntean, there is also Adi Ilie, who played at Poli and missed today”, said Bogdan Todoran, Obilici’s coach.
